Project: Construction of Sabha Building at Nanganallur

After going through our website you must have come to know that the Primary aim of our Sabha is to conduct the annual Sabari Yatra along side other monthly Yatras for needy/middle income group Ayyappans . The Ayyappans have to keep a strict Vratham (Austerities) for a period of 41-45 days where they have to keep away from women who are under going their periods (Menstrual Cycle).

 They also need to bathe two times a day and possibly cook their own food which is purely Vegetarian and devoid of Onion, Garlic and some other types of vegetables. It also needs to be cooked and served by people who are clean and religious.

 There are Several Gruhathas who live in small houses, apartments and flats. It is very difficult for them to follow these strict conditions while their spouses are having their Periods.

 There are Several Bachelor Ayyappans either living alone or living with other women and also away from their families. This group of Ayyappans also finds it difficult to follow these strict conditions especially the one with regards to food.

 Our beloved Guruswami cannot bear to the see the plight of these people but at the same time cannot relax the rules of the Vrath, as it would lead to breaking the tenets of Ayyappa Cult and incurring the Wrath of Sri Ayyappan.

 He had the vision to command our group to strive to create a Sabha Building, which can serve this purpose. This building can have small individuals rooms or dormitories which can be shared by both Bachelor and Gruhastha Ayyappans as and when the need arises. Gruhasthas having the problem of their spouses undergoing their periods can temporarily shift to this Building. Bachelor or Gruhastha Ayyappans living in small dwellings especially shared ones can also shift to this building during the Vratham. This service could be done on a nominal charge so as to help the upkeep of the Premises and pay the care-takers.

 A common kitchen which can be used both for individual cooking and community cooking, will help address the issue of special food needs during the Vratham.

 This Building can also have a large hall, which can be used for Homas, Yagnas, Irumudi Kettu and other religious activities. This can also be let out during off-season and the revenue thus generated can be used to subsidize the expenses of needy ayyappans.

 We are collecting whatever we can within the group but would be grateful for all donations towards this activity.
